MCP (Model Context Protocol)
IPOInsider hosts a read-only MCP server at https://mcp.ipoinsider.com/mcp
for Claude and other OAuth-capable MCP clients. It exposes the same IPO data as the
REST API through structured tools; the Tool reference below shows how each tool
maps back to the REST endpoints. SPAC deals (industry BLANK CHECK) are always excluded.
Connect
The server is a remote, OAuth-authenticated MCP endpoint. Add it to any OAuth-capable client and complete the IPOInsider sign-in when prompted. No tokens to create or paste. Pick your client:
- Open Settings → Connectors.
- Click Add custom connector.
- Paste the server URL:
https://mcp.ipoinsider.com/mcp. - Complete the IPOInsider sign-in in the browser.
Requires a Claude plan that supports custom connectors. If the tools don't appear, toggle the connector off and on to retry the OAuth flow.
Authentication
MCP uses OAuth, tied to your IPOInsider account. Add the server URL to your MCP client; it prompts you to sign in at IPOInsider, then connects automatically. You do not create or paste tokens. If access is denied after sign-in, your account is not enabled for the IPOInsider MCP; access is a per-account entitlement. Contact IPOInsider support to have it enabled.
Tool reference
Every tool is read-only. The server provides built-in guidance: call data_discover
and get_usage_guide for query routing and field lookups before querying, or pull the
ipoinsider_guide prompt for the whole briefing at once.
The full contract for each tool (arguments, result shapes, routing hints) is served by
the tools themselves over tools/list; this table is the human cross-reference to the
REST API.

Rate limits
Tool calls are rate limited to 120 per minute per account. Over the limit, a call
returns a rate_limited result carrying retry_after_seconds; wait that long and
retry. The ceiling is generous by design; it exists to stop call floods, not to meter
normal use.
Results are paginated: ipo_list and the history tools default to 100 rows and cap at
500. Page with offset until offset + returned >= count.
Data handling
- Read-only. The server exposes no tool that creates, updates or deletes anything.
Every tool is annotated
readOnlyHint, so MCP clients can run them without per-call confirmation. - No conversation data. Nothing in the server reads your chat history, memory, files, or any part of the conversation beyond the arguments a tool is called with.
- What is recorded. Each call is logged for usage analytics: the tool name, its arguments, the account it was made for, the response status and the duration. This is product telemetry; it tells us which tools are worth keeping.
- Where the data goes. Queries run read-only against the IPOInsider database. No IPO data is sent to any third party.

Troubleshooting

| Sign-in fails or tools return 401 | Reconnect the server and complete the IPOInsider OAuth sign-in again. |

| Empty or small result sets | Results are paginated (default 100 rows, max 500). Page with offset; every response carries the total count. |
